What if we had taken the billions of dollars invested in AI and invested that into public education instead?
Imagine the return on investment of the information being used to train actual humans who can reason and don’t lie 60% of the time instead of using it to train a computer that is useless more than it is useful.
It looks like you fixed your issue but I had the same thing happen on windows 10 so I am gonna post how I fixed it in case someone runs across this thread later.
In my case everything had been working previously but after an arbitrary reboot, my windows 10 PC could ping the local network and nothing else suddenly. No access to the tailnet, Internet; DNS or otherwise. On the wired interface that is. I could connect to WiFi and it would work just fine. I had a DHCP reservation set, deleted the reservation, let it get a new IP and then it worked. No idea why? Recreated the reservation and it still worked back on the old IP again
That would explain their behavior.
There’s kids today that still do that. And plenty of kids that’s call you a virgin and stuff you in a locker for being able to use a computer without a gui
Duh, I was born in 1901, why do you ask?
You are either a 14 year old socialist furry or a 35 year old Linux user on the fedi. No in between
Everyone knows that grandparents have never had sex and should be protected from such obscenity
I never got banned. I just left because the greedy little CEO is a liar that sacrificed the only thing that made the site good, 3rd party apps, on the alter of the almighty dollar during the API debacle.
To be honest the quality of posts, comments, and moderation policies had gone way down hill since at least 2020. The killing of 3rd party apps just gave me the motivation to finally leave
Is there a difference between being a “stochastic parrot” and understanding text? No matter what you call it, an LLM will always produces the same output with the same input if it is at the same state.
An LLM will never say “I don’t know” unless it’s been trained to say “I don’t know”, it doesn’t have the concept of understanding. And so I lean on calling it a “stochastic parrot”. Although I think there is some interesting philosophic exercises, you could do on whether humans are much different and if understanding is just an illusion.
I think some apps will request all of your comment history and manually calculate karma but it’s not tracked by lemmy
