LilB0kChoy@midwest.socialto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•It's Father's Day in the United States. What is a memory of your father that left the greatest impact on your life?6·4 days agoComing everyday to sit with me in the hospital for a month; from the ICU all the way to the general ward until he walked out the front door with me.
I always knew my dad loved me but he wasn’t great at expressing it, but it was never more apparent than during that time.
LilB0kChoy@midwest.socialto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Who is an actor you can't stand, but everyone likes?3·4 days agoThey can be used interchangeably typically but anytime in this usage is grammatically correct. Any time usually would be preceded by a preposition like, “at any time” and is a noun. Anytime is an adverb.
LilB0kChoy@midwest.socialto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Who is an actor you can't stand, but everyone likes?3·4 days agoI get this. I was listening to a podcast, Conan O’Brien’s I think, where Will Ferrell came up and they were talking about how he’s typically a pretty straightforward and serious kind of person off camera.
He turns it on for the camera but it’s not who he is in real life. There’s nothing wrong with it per se but it made him seem a lot more disingenuous to me.

It means to walk at a slow, relaxed pace, often in a leisurely way.

LilB0kChoy@midwest.socialto Technology@lemmy.world•IRS tax filing software released to the people as free softwareEnglish1·9 days agoDid the government claim it was accurate to the law? I’m guessing just providing code doesn’t open the government to liability. That would fall on anyone who implemented it. I always assumed that’s why for-cost software has Ts&Cs that indemnify them unless you pay extra for the protection.
No. Spending time around people different from myself offers me different perspectives, interesting conversations etc.
Hanging out with someone exactly the same would be like living in an echo chamber with a yes man.

That plus private votes, nah, I’m good.
LilB0kChoy@midwest.socialOPto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What communities or instances do you have blocked to make your Lemmy experience more enjoyable?3·10 days agoI don’t remember why I blocked .ml because it was a long time ago but I’d guess I got tired of the users and many of the communities bleeding tankies into the rest of Lemmy.
I’ve heard that blahaj has changed a lot too but I haven’t really noticed it not being in my feed so I haven’t bothered to check.
Did you know, John Deere never saw a tractor.
