Agree, but then you would need to count a lot of things, and many of them would be general mass comodity like cars, electricity, heating… besides LLM’s being the new thing killing us, we have stuff killing us for ages…
I guess my opinion will be hugely unpopular but it is what it is - I’d argue it’s natural selection and not an issue of LLM’s in general.
Healthy and (emotionally) inteligent humans don’t get killed by LLM’s. They know it’s a tool, they know it’s just software. It’s not a person and it does not guarantee correctness.
Getting killed because LLM’s told you so - the person was in mental distress already and ready to harm themselves. The LLM’s are basically just the straw that broke the camels back. Same thing with physical danger. If you believe drinking bleach helps with back pain - there is nothing that can save you from your own stupidity.
LLM’s are like a knife. It can be a tool to prepare food or it can be a weapon. It’s up to the one using it.

91·14 days agoStart-up capital means investors, investors mean expecting a return on investment, that means you must make sure that people you help will pay you back more than you spent helping them.
The concept in itself is contradictory. If you want to help someone, the easiest thing is not to expect anything in return for the help.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Is anyone just like... very terrified of losing your memories?
3·21 days agoSounds quite simple - if you are healthy, nothing to do. If you fear losing memories - write them down. Like, a diary or journal, but you now write down what happened in the past, how you saw it, how you experience it. That way you have memories written down. You can also over time re-read them and update and double check do you still remember them the same way you used to, or do your memories get “watered down” over time.

To participate in smaller local/regional communities, because they don’t exist or are basically dead on Lemmy. On reddit, almost every city has it’s own community, while on Lemmy some countries don’t even have communities or just a few people there looking more like a private group chat.
It could be party due to the decentralized nature, every community perhaps has it’s own server, but unless I am able to find it…

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Uncircumcised penis owners, did you ever wish you were circumcised?
19·1 month agoNo.
Forskin ins there for a reason. It’s protecting the head of the penis. Cutting it off is just a poor way of not having to deal with the problems if you don’t wash it properly.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•How do you secure your home lab? Like, physically? From thieves?English
12·2 months agoSame way you protect anything else valuable in your house - by locking the door and potentially installing (selfhosting) security cameras. I’d completely disagree that a server will be a target for a common thief. What are they gonna do with that? Who is gonna buy that from them? What can they buy with that? It’s useless garbage for them.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Is it racist to oppose illegal immigrants?
41·2 months agoNo,
because it doesn’t even fit the definition of racism. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Racism
Illegal immigrants are of absolutely all sorts, so there is no single human trait that is uniquely only found in illegal migrants. Also, people don’t oppose illegal migrants, they oppose illegal migration as a general thing. Illegal migrants are not the problem, they are simply the cause, and people hate the problems that arise in a society after to much illegal migration.
People need to stop calling everyone they disagree with racists, its so watered down that it completely lost any meaning and weight behind it. Didn’t get up to a granny on the bus? Racist. Driving a white car? Racist. Using an iPhone? Racist.
There is a version of illegal migration that I would support and truly leave an open door for everyone: You must adopt the culture, you must learn the language, you must find a job, you won’t get any welfare or housing and you can’t ask for anything in our society to be “like it was at your home”. And voila! Everyone welcome.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Seriously, how would a global democracy work?
2·2 months agoEveryone would need infrastructure, not only internet access, but also power, a smartphone and/or a PC. Still millions of people live in areas where they don’t even have reliable electricity acces, or don’t even know how to read and write. How would these people, that live of soley their land, buy a smartphone or PC and internet access and be able or know how to use it?
You first need world education, basic world infrastructure (water, electricity) before you can even dream of internet access.
Because one company offers a good service many people like, and no other company is doing it, od doing it as well as cloudflare. We are also talking about a security feature where not having it and getting hacked, may be well worse than a few hours of downtime.
Cloudflare is not necessary for the internet at all. People choose to use them.
