Somewhat depending on your country, local shops may have opened online storefronts during COVID. Them having a physical presence means their products tend to be decent quality (as most customers look at them physically before buying).

As a software engineer, I’d say statistics is more useful for journalism. If in doubt, you could be analysing papers about entirely different fields, like physics or biology or whatever. Those also deal with statistics.

But I also just feel like there’s not terribly much journalism to be done surrounding computer science. There’s the bog standard news cycle of tool XYZ had a new release, but beyond that, it’s more a field where techies try out or build things and then they tell each other about it.
I guess, you could also consider some of the jobs adjacent to computer science / software engineering, like technical writer or requirements engineer or project/product owner. In some sense, the latter two involve interviewing customers and their domain experts to figure out what’s actually needed.
Having said that, to my knowledge you typically get into these roles by being a software engineer and then just taking on those tasks regularly enough until someone notices…

Since no one else responded so far, the last thing I remember about it is that it got overrun by conspiracy nuts. Don’t know, if that’s still the case or if it was just a local thing, but yeah.

I guess, I’d say it’s a democracy-in-progress currently. I mean, all democracies always are, but the US perhaps a bit more. Seeing the protests is a very good sign, though.

Mindustry is basically Factorio-meets-tower-defense. It’s open-source, also available on desktop.

That is exactly why I’m downvoting many of the comments here. Not personal stories, but all the “men have it so much worse” comments, which are ultimately just toxic against women.

Because holy fuck, that was exactly Reddit, and I do not want this place to end up the same. We already have a massive imbalance between the genders and if we men start discrediting women, they’re most fucking definitely not going to show up here.

I do want men to be able to speak about abuse stories. That is where our patriarchical society kills men, in that it does not allow us to show weakness. But it cannot fucking devolve into a us vs. them discussion, which this whole question is locked and loaded towards. That is not helpful to anyone.

What is this article talking about? That’s a UX change. It has nothing to do with privacy or Mozilla’s commitment to privacy.
